The event brought together nearly 800 people, including sponsoring companies, institutions, and celebrities from the social, cultural, and political spheres of the country for the same cause.<\/p>\n<p>Model <strong>Martina Klein<\/strong> and former tennis player <strong>Alex Corretja<\/strong> were the ambassadors of the most international edition to date, which featured canadian-american Rufus Wainwright and <strong>Rigoberta Bandini<\/strong> as guest artists.<\/p>\n<p>Among the attendees were actors and actresses <strong>Marc and Aina Clotet<\/strong>, <strong>Natalia S\u00e1nchez, Miguel \u00c1ngel Mu\u00f1oz, Hiba Abouk, Patry Montero, and Albert Bar\u00f3<\/strong>; singers <strong>Joan Manuel Serrat, Alfred Garc\u00eda, and Guille Milkywaw<\/strong>; content creators <strong>Dulceida, Laura Escanes, and Marta D\u00edaz<\/strong>; renowned journalists <strong>Marc Gir\u00f3, Jordi Bast\u00e9, and Helena Garcia Melero<\/strong>; and from the business sector, <strong>Markus Haupt<\/strong>, interim CEO of Seat and Cupra, <strong>Tatxo Benet<\/strong>, president and CEO of Mediapro, and <strong>Emilio Rousaud,<\/strong> founder and general director of Factor Energia.<\/p>\n<p>This edition also saw the attendance of <strong>Salvador Illa<\/strong>, president of the Generalitat de Catalunya, <strong>Josep Rull,<\/strong> president of the Parliament of Catalonia, <strong>Jaume Collboni<\/strong>, mayor of Barcelona, and <strong>Olga Pan\u00e9<\/strong>, health minister of the Generalitat, among other authorities.<\/p>\n<p>All these personalities and entities join the fight led by <strong>Dr. Bonaventura Clotet<\/strong> and <strong>Dr. Roger Paredes<\/strong> against infections such as HIV, COVID-19, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), neglected diseases, severe bacterial infections, and infections in immunocompromised patients. It is important to note that <strong>100% of people will suffer at least one infection in their lifetime.<\/strong> Therefore, <strong>it is a fight that affects everyone<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>For the first time an international artist participates in the People in Red Barcelona Charity Gala<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>This year, for the first time, the event featured a top international artist like <strong>Rufus Wainwright<\/strong>. The canadian-american singer-songwriter, known for his unique style that blends baroque pop, opera, and folk, performed a concert of 4 iconic songs, such as Hallejujah, accompanied by his piano.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, <strong>Rigoberta Bandini<\/strong> welcomed the guests with her new hit &#8216;Pamela Anderson&#8217; and performed the second song of the night &#8216;Vuela&#8217; before dinner.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, DJ <strong>Fede Sard\u00e0<\/strong> and award-winning mixologist <strong>Manel Veh\u00ed<\/strong> from Boia nit Events delighted the attendees with excellent music and cocktails, respectively.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>S\u00edlvia Abril and Andreu Buenafuente, hosts of the evening<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Once again, <a href=\"https:\/\/peopleinred.com\/en\/\">People in Red Barcelona<\/a> enjoyed the collaboration of <strong>Andreu Buenafuente<\/strong>, who hosted the event with <strong>S\u00edlvia Abril<\/strong> under the direction of El Terrat (The Mediapro Studio).<\/p>\n<h3><strong>La Fura dels Baus flies over the sky of Barcelona<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>For the second consecutive year, the internationally renowned theater company La Fura dels Baus offered an innovative performance during the aperitif on the panoramic terrace of the MNAC. <strong>&#8216;El F\u00e9nix y el p\u00e1jaro&#8217;<\/strong> is one of their recent artistic creations that represents the hope of continuing to fight against infectious diseases after 15 years of the Charity Gala.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, <strong>one of their acrobats flew over the sky of Barcelona<\/strong> with a musical performance representing the rebirth of the Fight Infections Foundation research, which is increasingly broad and facing more challenges.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Michelin-starred gastronomy<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Renowned Michelin-starred chef <strong>Nandu Jubany<\/strong>, along with his team from <a href=\"https:\/\/jubanyevents.com\/\">Jubany Events<\/a>, provided a top-level gastronomic experience.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>The fight infections, a continuing Battle<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The main goal of the <a href=\"https:\/\/peopleinred.com\/en\/\">People in Red Barcelona Charity Gala<\/a> is to inform and raise awareness about the challenges society currently faces in combating infectious diseases, as well as to raise funds for the research of the <a href=\"https:\/\/lluita.org\/en\/?swcfpc=1\"><strong>Fight Infections Foundation<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>These seed funds are used to strengthen projects led by research teams in various areas. This year, the Foundation led a study published in <strong>The Lancet<\/strong> concluding that <strong>the most lethal variant of mpox can cause a mortality rate of over 4%<\/strong>. At the same time, <strong>a clinical trial studying plasmapheresis for treating long COVID concluded that this technique is not effective<\/strong> for treating the disease. Additionally, <strong>a pioneering project was launched to improve the quality of life of people with HIV through an abbreviated geriatric assessment<\/strong>, allowing for a quick evaluation of the health status of elderly individuals with the same effectiveness but in less time.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, the Foundation is carrying out <strong>pioneering and internationally impactful projects<\/strong> to protect citizens from an <strong>avian flu pandemic,<\/strong> reduce mortality from r<strong>espiratory infections<\/strong> and <strong>infections in immunocompromised patients<\/strong>, and achieve a <strong>cure for HIV infection<\/strong>, among many others.
