This milestone marks a turning <strong>point in research and care for ageing in people living with HIV.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For ten years, this space has been key t<strong>o fostering innovation, scientific debate and international collaboratio<\/strong>n, and this special edition aimed to commemorate it with an exceptional scientific programme and activities dedicated to celebrating the anniversary.<\/p>\n<p>The event, coordinated by <strong>Dr Eug\u00e8nia Negredo<\/strong>, head of the<a href=\"https:\/\/lluita.org\/en\/infeccions\/vih\/?swcfpc=1\"> HIV line<\/a> at the Foundation, Dr <a href=\"https:\/\/lluita.org\/en\/about-us\/bonaventura-clotet\/?swcfpc=1\"><strong>Bonaventura Clote<\/strong><\/a>t, president of the Foundation, and Dr <strong>Pedro Cahn<\/strong>, president of Fundaci\u00f3n Hu\u00e9sped, brought together <strong>global leaders, healthcare professionals, researchers and community organisations<\/strong> to address the multifactorial challenges of ageing in people living with HIV.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>What Were the Key Topics?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Biomarkers and prediction of ageing in people with HIV<\/strong> \u2013 with Paddy Mallon and Agust\u00edn Nava.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Current and emerging clinical interventions<\/strong> \u2013 with Josep Ferrer Arbaizar, Esteban Jos\u00e9 Mart\u00ednez Chamorro, Priscilla Hsue and Marta Boffito.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Pharmaceutical innovation and challenges<\/strong> \u2013 with Ana Milinkovic, Cristina De Alvaro and Emiliano Bissio.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Special populations and emerging issues<\/strong> \u2013 with \u00c0ngel Rivero Calaf and Carolina Garcia-Vidal.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The <strong>opening lecture by Dr Matteo Cesari<\/strong> offered a forward-looking perspective on healthy ageing, setting the tone for an enriching debate.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Space for Innovation<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>To commemorate this special edition, the congress launched a call for innovative projects under the theme:<strong> \u201cCommunity interventions to improve quality of life\u201d<\/strong>. The goal was to identify and support community solutions with a tangible impact on the lives of people aged 50 and over living with HIV.<\/p>\n<p>During the session, attendees voted among the three shortlisted projects, and the project with the most support received a <strong>\u20ac3,000<\/strong> grant to facilitate its implementation.<\/p>\n<p>The winning project was <em><strong>\u201cDriven Frailty Risk Prediction in Older Kenyans with HIV in Western Kenya\u201d<\/strong>,<\/em> presented by the<strong> South Rift Valley HIV Technical Working Group.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <strong>main objective of the project<\/strong> is to develop an artificial intelligence-based model to predict frailty risk in Kenyan people over 50 living with HIV. Using electronic health data and patient-reported outcomes, the project enables early identification of high-risk patients and the development of personalised interventions to improve their quality of life and clinical outcomes.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Community Engagement<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The workshop also featured a <strong>roundtable with NGOs<\/strong> such as <strong>GAIS POSITIUS, Apoyo Positivo, Terrence Higgins Trust, The Food Chain and The Love Tank<\/strong>, reinforcing the importance of social and community interventions in healthy ageing.<\/p>\n<p>This event was made possible thanks to the support of sponsors, especially <strong>ViiV Healthcare<\/strong>, which continues to drive research and innovation in this field.<\/p>\n<p>See you next year in Argentina, hosted by Fundaci\u00f3n Hu\u00e9sped!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Barcelona hosted the 10th edition of the Workshop Comprehensive Management of Aging in HIV, an event organised by ScienHub Education, the platform that drives the training activities of the Foundation.
