More than 40 years after the first cases of HIV, AIDS remains a reality that affects millions of people around the world.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>That\u2019s why, on<strong> World AIDS Day<\/strong>, 1 December, the Foundation for the Fight Against Infections <strong>wants to offer a different perspective on this infection:<\/strong> that of those who do not have the virus but have lived very close to it.<\/p>\n<p>On one hand, filmmaker<strong> Carla Sim\u00f3n<\/strong>, who experienced it as the daughter of parents affected by AIDS and addresses this subject in her work. On the other, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/lluita.org\/en\/about-us\/bonaventura-clotet\/\">Dr Bonaventura Clotet<\/a><\/strong>, a leading figure and pioneer in the field of <a href=\"https:\/\/lluita.org\/en\/infeccions\/vih\/?swcfpc=1\">HIV<\/a>. A meeting that brings together t<strong>wo key people in the collective imagination of HIV<\/strong> \u2013 without whom it would be hard to understand the infection today.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a class=\"calltoaction\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=B5qzJUwDwHU\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>THE FULL CONVERSATION<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>During the conversation, Carla Sim\u00f3n shared her <strong>first memory<\/strong> of AIDS: \u201cthe first time I heard about AIDS was at school\u201d. When her adoptive parents explained the family reality, she thought: \u201cthe first thing that crossed my mind was maybe I\u2019m ill with something\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Another central theme was<strong> stigma<\/strong>. Despite progress, there are still prejudices that affect people living with HIV. \u201cI think stigma still exists, except among certain elites with a lot of education and knowledge who understand that they cannot transmit the disease, they cannot become infected, but <strong>there is still the risk of being rejected if it becomes known that you have HIV<\/strong>,\u201d explained Dr Clotet. \u201c<strong>AIDS has advanced at an incredible speed scientifically, but socially it has been left completely behind<\/strong>,\u201d added Carla.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s why Dr Clotet said: <strong>\u201cWhat new generations need is information, knowledge \u2013 to know what it was, what it can be and that it can be contracted.\u201d<\/strong> Carla also highlighted the importance of testing: <strong>\u201cTesting is accessible to everyone and very easy.
