{"id":27538,"date":"2026-07-16T10:32:11","date_gmt":"2026-07-16T08:32:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lluita.org\/?p=27538"},"modified":"2026-07-27T11:16:29","modified_gmt":"2026-07-27T09:16:29","slug":"neix-itsready-el-primer-projecte-a-catalunya-que-integra-eines-digitals-per-millorar-la-prevencio-el-diagnostic-precoc-i-el-coneixement-de-les-its-entre-la-poblacio-jove","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lluita.org\/en\/neix-itsready-el-primer-projecte-a-catalunya-que-integra-eines-digitals-per-millorar-la-prevencio-el-diagnostic-precoc-i-el-coneixement-de-les-its-entre-la-poblacio-jove\/","title":{"rendered":"ITSready launches as Catalonia\u2019s first project to bring together digital tools designed to improve STI prevention, early detection and awareness among young people"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) continue to represent a significant <strong data-lexical-text=\"true\">public health challenge.<\/strong> In recent years, Catalonia has recorded a <strong data-lexical-text=\"true\">steady increase in diagnoses, particularly among young people<\/strong>, highlighting the need for new strategies in prevention, early diagnosis and sexual health promotion that are tailored to their habits and needs.<\/p>\n<p>In this context, <a class=\"fai-ChatInputEntity__text ___6erqso0 fyind8e f1tx3yz7 f1deo86v f1eh06m1 f1iescvh\" title=\"https:\/\/itsready.cat\/\" href=\"https:\/\/itsready.cat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ITSready<\/a> has been launched, a pioneering research and innovation project in Catalonia and Spain that is developing <strong data-lexical-text=\"true\">three digital tools designed<\/strong> to improve knowledge of STIs and facilitate access to diagnosis among <strong data-lexical-text=\"true\">young people aged 16 to 25 across Catalonia.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The project is funded by <strong data-lexical-text=\"true\">La Marat\u00f3 de 3Cat<\/strong> and jointly led by the <a class=\"fai-ChatInputEntity__text ___6erqso0 fyind8e f1tx3yz7 f1deo86v f1eh06m1 f1iescvh\" title=\"https:\/\/lluita.org\/en\/\" href=\"https:\/\/lluita.org\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Fight Infections Foundation<\/a>; the <strong data-lexical-text=\"true\">Centre for Epidemiological Studies on STIs and HIV\/AIDS in Catalonia (CEEISCAT)<\/strong> \u2013 a research group within the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) and affiliated with the Public Health Secretariat of the Department of Health; the <strong data-lexical-text=\"true\">Barcelona Public Health Agency (ASPB)<\/strong>; and the <strong data-lexical-text=\"true\">Young People&#8217;s Centre for Sexualities (CJAS)<\/strong>. The project also involves the Microbiology Department of Germans Trias i Pujol University Hospital.<\/p>\n<p><em class=\"___11wyd0v f1j4dglz\" data-lexical-text=\"true\">\u201cWith ITSready, we aim to <\/em><strong class=\"___11wyd0v f1j4dglz\" data-lexical-text=\"true\">bring diagnosis and information closer to the digital spaces<\/strong><em class=\"___11wyd0v f1j4dglz\" data-lexical-text=\"true\"> that already form part of young people&#8217;s everyday lives, by offering accessible, confidential and evidence-based tools,\u201d<\/em> explains <strong data-lexical-text=\"true\">Cristina Agust\u00ed<\/strong>, Principal Investigator of the project and epidemiologist at CEEISCAT-IGTP.<\/p>\n<h3><strong data-lexical-text=\"true\">ITSready: three tools bringing sexual health closer to young people<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong data-lexical-text=\"true\">Testa\u2019t Jove<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Testa\u2019t Jove offers the opportunity to <strong data-lexical-text=\"true\">request a free self-sampling kit<\/strong> tailored to each person&#8217;s sexual practices. Participants <strong data-lexical-text=\"true\">receive the kit at home or at a collection point<\/strong>, send their samples to the reference laboratory and access their results confidentially through the platform.<\/p>\n<p><strong data-lexical-text=\"true\">Notifica<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Notifica makes it possible to <strong data-lexical-text=\"true\">anonymously inform sexual partners of a potential STI exposure<\/strong> following a positive diagnosis, promoting early diagnosis and helping to interrupt transmission chains.<\/p>\n<p><em class=\"___11wyd0v f1j4dglz\" data-lexical-text=\"true\">\u201cChlamydia and gonorrhoea are infections that often cause no symptoms. As a result, many people may not realise they are infected and can unknowingly pass them on. Facilitating early diagnosis and partner notification is essential to interrupt transmission chains, prevent complications and protect sexual health,\u201d<\/em> explains <strong data-lexical-text=\"true\">Luc\u00eda Bail\u00f3n<\/strong>, researcher at the Fight Infections Foundation.<\/p>\n<p><strong data-lexical-text=\"true\">Informa\u2019t<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Informa\u2019t is a <strong data-lexical-text=\"true\">chatbot that provides reliable, validated information<\/strong> on sexuality, STIs and prevention using language tailored to the needs of young people.<\/p>\n<p><em class=\"___11wyd0v f1j4dglz\" data-lexical-text=\"true\">\u201cMore and more young people seek information about sexuality and STIs online or through artificial intelligence tools. With Informa\u2019t, we want that information to be rigorous, up to date and validated by healthcare professionals, because making informed decisions is also a form of prevention,\u201d<\/em> explains <strong data-lexical-text=\"true\">Cristina Rius<\/strong>, Head of the Epidemiology Service at the Barcelona Public Health Agency.<\/p>\n<p><em class=\"___11wyd0v f1j4dglz\" data-lexical-text=\"true\">\u201cEven today, talking about STIs can still generate shame, guilt or fear. If we want to guarantee young people&#8217;s sexual rights, we must bring services to where they are, through accessible, confidential and non-judgemental tools,\u201d<\/em> highlights <strong data-lexical-text=\"true\">Jordi Baroja<\/strong>, Director of the Young People&#8217;s Centre for Sexualities.<\/p>\n<h3><strong data-lexical-text=\"true\">Testa\u2019t Jove aims to distribute 1,500 self-sampling kits<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The project plans to distribute 1,500 free self-sampling kits among young people aged 16 to 25 living in Catalonia.<\/p>\n<p>The first data obtained during the pilot phase already point to the potential of this model to reach people who do not usually access conventional diagnostic services.
