The Soc Recerca project by the Fight Infections Foundation is an initiative aimed at bringing scientific research closer to the public and encouraging active participation in clinical studies and other research projects conducted by the Foundation.
Research is essential for discovering new treatments and improving public health. The collaboration of volunteers in clinical studies provides valuable data that contribute to scientific and medical progress.
We discuss all of this with Anna Chamorro, Lead Study Coordinator at ScienHub Research Support, who provides us with more details about this project.

Soc Recerca is a digital platform designed to bring research closer to people. Its main goal is to promote clinical research that is truly committed to what matters most for collective well-being. To achieve this, the platform is advancing towards increasingly bidirectional communication, making research more accessible and fostering active collaboration between participants and the research team throughout the entire process.
The platform enables research teams to publish studies open for participation and manage the recruitment process more efficiently. Volunteers, in turn, can access detailed information about available studies and choose those that align with their interests and personal criteria. This interaction streamlines the selection process, particularly for studies requiring a high number of participants.
«Soc Recerca» helps by providing clear information about clinical studies, covering everything from their phases and stages to participants’ legal rights. Additionally, it broadens access to a wider network of participants, speeds up the registration process, and optimizes communication between researchers and volunteers, allowing studies to progress more efficiently.
At the same time, efforts are being made to understand what matters most to people participating in research, identifying both barriers and facilitators to participation. The goal is to learn from their positive and negative experiences and improve the way research-related information is communicated.
When the first COVID-19 vaccines entered clinical trial phases, «Soc Recerca» received 4,000 applications from interested participants in just one weekend. Thanks to its filtering system, between 200 and 300 participants were selected in record time.
