Dr. Clotet received his MD (1976) and his PhD (1981), with a thesis on autoimmune diseases, from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). That same year, his internship as an Internal Medicine specialist at the Vall d’Hebron University Hospital in Barcelona coincided with the first AIDS case reported in Spain. This case was the catalyst for a career dedicated to this serious disease, first as head of the HIV Unit of the Germans Trias i Pujol University Hospital in Badalona (1987-2015) and then as founder and president of the Fight against AIDS Foundation (1992), which is now named as Fight Infections Foundation.

Dr. Clotet soon saw the need to go a step beyond patient care to conduct research aimed at eradicating AIDS. In 1995, with the support of “la Caixa” and the Department of Health of the Generalitat of Catalonia, he founded the IrsiCaixa AIDS Research Institute, which he still heads.  In addition, Dr. Clotet is also the clinical director of Infectious Diseases at the Metropolitana Nord area of the Catalan Institute of Health, scientific advisor to two IrsiCaixa spin-offs: Aelix Therapeutics SL and AlbaJuna Therapeutics SL and director of the Chair of AIDS and Related Diseases at the Universitat de Vic (UVic).

He has published more than 1000 papers in high impact international journals and his contributions to research have been recognized with the Josep Trueta medal to Sanitary Merit and the ‘Premi Nacional de Recerca’, among other awards.

In the hospital setting, he serves as a consultant for patients with HIV infection. He combines his clinical work with basic research at the IrsiCaixa AIDS Research Institute. His research focuses on microbial genomics across different patient populations. He is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), affiliated with the Master’s Degree in HIV Treatment and Pathogenesis, and serves as co-coordinator of the clinical module.

Family physician with more than 15 years of clinical experience, specialising in sexual health, HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs). She currently leads the STI Unit at the Fundació Lluita contra les Infeccions and Germans Trias i Pujol University Hospital.
She combines clinical practice with research and teaching in the fields of STIs, community-based approaches and comprehensive sexual health. She is committed to improving access to healthcare, prevention and sexual health education, particularly among vulnerable populations and within community settings.

Eugènia Negredo earned her medical degree and PhD from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Sant Pau Hospital.

Since 1999, she has led the HIV Section at Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital (HGTiP) and coordinates a research group focused on HIV-related complications and associated chronic inflammation, with a special emphasis on aging.

She contributes to national and international clinical guidelines on comorbidities and aging (GESIDA, PNS, EACS), and since 2014 has been a professor and coordinator of the Medical degree at UVIC-UCC.

Since 2016, she has co-directed the international workshop “Comprehensive Management of Aging and HIV”, held annually in Barcelona and Buenos Aires.

Medical specialist. PhD in Medicine. Co-Head of the Immunocompromised Patients and Severe Bacterial Infections Section at the Fundació Lluita contra les Infeccions and Germans Trias i Pujol University Hospital. She has played an active role in designing outpatient care pathways and hospital-at-home programmes for patients receiving antibiotic treatment. She also provides inpatient clinical care. She supervises Internal Medicine residents and is actively involved in the research lines of the Internal Medicine Unit (IMU). She is a Full Professor of Medicine at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) and is responsible for the Clinical Practice course within the UAB Medical Degree programme at the Can Ruti Campus.

PhD in Medicine, she is the Director of the Long covid Programme at the Fundació Lluita contra les Infeccions and Germans Trias i Pujol University Hospital. Her research focuses on long covid, integrating clinical phenotyping, mechanistic studies, and clinical trials.
She leads a multidisciplinary team dedicated to advancing the understanding and treatment of post-acute infectious syndromes. Dr Mateu contributes to international collaborative networks on long covid. Her work bridges clinical expertise and translational research to support evidence-based care and improve patient outcomes.

Specialist in Internal Medicine, trained at Bellvitge University Hospital. He obtained his PhD from the University of Barcelona in 2020. He worked as an Infectious Diseases specialist at Hospital Clínic de Barcelona from 2017 to 2024. He is currently Co-Head of the Immunocompromised Patients Section at the Fundació Lluita contra les Infeccions and Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital in Badalona. He is a member of the Executive Board of the Spanish Medical Mycology Group (SEIMC). His areas of expertise include fungal infections and multidrug-resistant microorganisms.

She specialises in the fields of International Health and Tropical Medicine. She is the Director of the North Metropolitan International Health Programme, affiliated with the Clinical Directorate of Infectious Diseases, the Infectious Diseases Department at Germans Trias i Pujol University Hospital, and its research foundation, the Fundació Lluita contra les Infeccions.
In recent years, her research has focused on imported infectious diseases affecting migrant populations, particularly schistosomiasis and tuberculosis. She is a member of the Spanish Society of Tropical Medicine and the European Network for Tropical Medicine and Travel Health.
Dr Roure currently combines her clinical and research activities with teaching. She is involved in undergraduate medical education at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) and the University of Vic – Central University of Catalonia (Manresa Campus) as a Clinical Associate Professor, while also contributing to specialised training in International Health through lectures in various master’s programmes and academic courses.
