Our annual event brings together nearly 500 people at the Teatre Poliorama

On 2 December we held our annual event at the Teatre Poliorama, bringing together nearly 500 people for a day that combined testimonies, research and key projects for people’s health.
Under the slogan “This is not theatre”, we wanted to highlight the importance of research in the fight against infections. During the day, we heard five powerful testimonies and learned how research has been crucial in improving their quality of life and, in some cases, even saving lives.
In addition, the heads of the HIV, emerging respiratory infections, severe bacterial infections, immunocompromised patients and international health lines explained the latest advances in their respective fields. Our Scientific Director, Dr Roger Paredes, provided an overview of the year and the most significant projects.
Finally, Dr Lucía Bailón, a researcher at the Foundation, and Dr Cristina Agustí, a researcher at CEEISCAT, presented the ITS-ON project, focused on detecting and reporting sexually transmitted infections among young people in Catalonia. This tool, funded by La Marató de 3Cat, will also include a chatbot offering accurate, high-quality information to users. The project is set to launch in 2026.
To close the event, Dr Bonaventura Clotet, President of the Foundation, thanked all attendees and members for their support in this fight. He also encouraged them to continue collaborating, whether through donations, solidarity initiatives or corporate partnerships.
The 500 people who filled the Teatre Poliorama once again demonstrated the growing commitment to health research. The feedback we have received has been overwhelmingly positive, and we are already preparing next year’s event.
