The researcher Anna Prats from the Foundation and the SuperCAP project have been selected in the 2025 grants call of the Barcelona City Council and the “la Caixa” Foundation. This is an innovative digital programme aimed at improving the quality of life of people with long covid. The initiative is part of the 13 research projects recognised this year, designed to address priority challenges in health and sustainability in the city.
The SuperCAP project, led by the long covid research line of the Foundation for the Fight against Infections in collaboration with the Research Group on Innovation, Health Economics and Digital Transformation (INEDIT) at the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute and the Persistent COVID Affected Association of Garraf, will focus on evaluating the effectiveness of a personalised digital tool to reduce symptoms such as fatigue and cognitive difficulties, two of the most disabling impacts of long covid.
The programme is integrated into the eSalut platform and combines:
The grant will allow the improvement of the SuperCAP programme and the implementation of a large-scale clinical trial that will validate the real impact of the programme on the well-being and daily functioning of affected individuals. The ultimate goal is to provide a scalable, accessible and non-pharmacological intervention that can be incorporated into standard care pathways.
At the Foundation for the Fight against Infections, we emphasise that this institutional support confirms the relevance of continuing to research a condition that still affects thousands of people across the country and requires evidence-based responses.
This biennial call, promoted by the City Council and the “la Caixa” Foundation within the framework of the 2024–2027 Strategic Plan for Science and Innovation, supports projects that generate a direct impact on the population and reinforce Barcelona as a leading city in health research.
