We were born in 1992 as a result of the HIV pandemic, caring for the affected people and promoting pioneering clinical research that saved lives. Over these years, the knowledge we acquired about the immune system, which is what HIV affects, has allowed us to tackle infectious diseases in all their dimensions.
As time has passed, it has become clear that infections are an inevitable risk in the world we live in, and that the future is completely unpredictable.
The fight continues!
Dr Bonaventura Clotet created the Fundació Lluita contra la Sida at Hospital German Trias.
The IrsiCaixa AIDS Research Institute is founded, located in the same hospital.
We initiated collaborations with the world’s leading research centres.
The Foundation promoted the most important AIDS charity gala in Spain.
Hospital Germans Trias created the Department of Infectious Diseases, led by Dr Clotet.
The COVID-19 pandemic broke out and more than 20 SARS-CoV-2 research projects were launched.
Currently, we are more than 150 professionals fighting infectious diseases.
The Fight Infections Foundation is funded through private donations, external services, and public grants. This combination of resources allows us to ensure the sustainability and independence of our work.
