We demonstrate our commitment to sustainability through concrete actions
08/10/2024
At the Fight Infections Foundation we have taken a step forward in our commitment to the environment by implementing a new and more rigorous recycling policy. This plan, which came into effect before the summer, aims to significantly recycle the waste generated and promote sustainable practices among the institution’s staff and users. We have promoted these actions thanks to the collaboration of the Germans Trias Hospital’s environmental department.
This plan includes
Waste separation: selective collection points have been installed in different spaces of the institution. These containers, clearly labeled, allow the separation of the following items: coffee capsules, toners, batteries, plastic, paper and waste.
Reduction of disposable plastics: the non-use of disposable plastic materials, such as water bottles or plastic utensils, is encouraged, both in common areas and events and meetings. Instead, the use of reusable bottles and biodegradable tableware is being encouraged.
Training and awareness-raising: awareness-raising actions will be carried out for all staff, with the aim of promoting the importance of recycling and how to do it correctly. In addition, informative materials have been placed in common areas to remind people about correct waste management.
Expected impact
With the implementation of this new policy, the institution aims to reduce the amount of waste sent to general landfills during the first year, with the expectation of progressively improving these results as the different initiatives are consolidated and fully integrated into daily operations. This effort will not only contribute significantly to waste reduction, but will also reinforce our commitment to environmental protection. Thus, we aspire to generate a broader positive impact, helping to preserve natural resources and promote a more sustainable future for future generations.
All these actions are part of our 2022-2026 strategic plan, which underlines the need for the Foundation to incorporate environmental sustainability criteria into its action protocols. Our commitment to sustainability is fundamental, which is why we have included it as a key element in our quality policy.
